I hope that you have seen our new flagpole at the entrance to the city on Shoreacres Blvd. It replaces the maritime style flagpole that we’ve had for quite a while.
The problem with that pole was that it was simply too small. When we needed to lower the flags to half-staff, the flags looked like they were almost on the ground. The new pole is 2 1/2 times the height of the old one and the flags are almost three times the size. They look awesome and at night we have a light highlighting them.
Many thanks to Chad Burke, Karen Gregory and the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region for their generous grant that made this possible. City Manager Troy Harrison worked with the the alliance to make this happen.
